나무서까래로 구성한 오각형의 지붕
정교함으로 아름다움을 더하다

일본 도쿄의 Kamakura산에 위치한 이 프로젝트는 Sagami Bay가 내려다보이는 아름다운 전망을 자랑한다. 클라이언트는 유독 뛰어난 전망과 푸른 환경을 접할 수 있는 장소를 선정하기위해 전 지역을 투어하며 부지선정에 고심했다. 새로운 거주지로 결정하기 위한 작업으로 다양한 정보를 수집했으며 이는 클라이언트를 예리한 건축전문가로 재탄생시켰다.
이 프로젝트의 특징은 흰색의 안료를 광촉매로 응용했다는 점에 있다. 또한 구체적인 주제가 있는 사각 볼륨으로 구성하였으며 이는 동양의 미학과 동시에 현대적인 감각을 그대로 가진 주제를 가졌다.
바다를 마주하며 좁은 경사면을 내려가면 집 입구에는 삼각형 pilotis를 볼수 있다. 또한 1층 작업장 바깥 마당의 나무와 유리벽으로 둘러싸인 침실은 특별한 경험을 약속한다.
이는 주변의 녹지를 이용하여 리조트호텔과 같은 편안한 분위기를 만들어내는 프로젝트의 성공에 일조했다.
창문은 주변의 환경을 최대한 집안으로 끌어들이기 위해 통창으로 시공되었으며 큰 창으로 내다보이는 숲과 바다는 그야말로 자연의 장관을 만들어냈다.
이 집의 가장 큰 특징은 나무서까래로 구성되어 있는 오각형의 지붕이다. 이 지붕의 구조는 다소 둔탁해보일 수 있지만 자세히 들여다보면 정교한 제작으로 그 아름다움을 더했다. 슬라이딩 도어를 열면 고급스러운 실내 인테리어와 일본의 전통 미학이 숨겨져 있는 분위기가 묘한 조화를 이루어내고 있다.
Japanese architectural practice APOLLO Architects & Associates have realised this single family two-storey house located on Mount Kamakura, Kanagawa prefecture. Featuring a striking, pentagonal roof and floor-to-ceiling windows boasting panoramic views of Sagami Bay, the 180-square-meters residence was completed in December 2011.
‘The house consists of rectangular volumes with concrete bases to which a white photocatalytic pigment has been applied. These volumes are staggered to create an overlapping effect that projects a modern sensibility while also embodying a certain Oriental aesthetic. As you descend the narrow slope while facing the ocean, the triangular pilotis at the entrance to the house come into view. This approach to the building also speaks eloquently of the unique features of the site.
‘The memorial tree planted in the courtyard outside the first floor workshop ensures a certain degree of privacy. As opposed to the privacy of the first floor, the second storey is an open, spacious environment. The sizes of the windows were calculated to frame panoramic views of the surrounding forest and ocean, while storage space, sinks and other amenities were stowed neatly into the walls.’
