CORE Modern Homes는 프로그램적인 가능성을 최대화하는 효율적 공간을 지향하는, 시각적인 아름다움과 역동성을 부여하기 위해 설계된 16,000sf 7단위 저택 개발이다. 토론토 근처에서 개발이 이루어진 이 곳은 Eglinton Avenue를 따라 주요한 위치를 차지하게 되었다. 이 거리는 새로운 LRT선이 완공된 토론토의 새로운 대중 교통 경로 중 하나이다. 가정생활을 고려하여 디자인된 이 현대적인 주거 공간은 활기찬 분위기의 침실과 식당, 그리고 즐거운 식사를 준비할 수 있는 식당을 갖추고 있다. 중간 규모의 주요 침실, 가족을 위한 다락 공간, 그리고 500-600 평방 피트의 커다란 전용 테라스 4개를 갖추고 있다.
정면의 거리를 마주보고 있는 창문은 도시의 빅토리아 주거양식에서 찾아볼 수 있는 전통적인 창문의 반대 모양을 가지고 있다. 의도된 창의 조각은 석조의 하나인 듯한 성질을 강조한다. 전망을 잘 보이게 하는 창문은 자연채광과 통풍을 극대화하는 한편 집의 시각적 한계를 뛰어넘어 더 넓은 시야를 가져다 준다. 거주지는 내부와 외부의 정원 공간, 그리고 그 너머의 하늘 사이에서 끊임없이 펼쳐지는 관계를 만들어낸다.
CORE Modern Homes is a 16,000sf 7-unit townhouse development which explores the potential of spatially oriented apertures that work to induce movement and visual interest within an efficient volume which maximizes programmatic potential. Located within Toronto’s Leaside neighbourhood, the development occupies a prime site along Eglinton Avenue. This street is poised to be one of Toronto’s new public transit corridors with the completion of the new LRT line. Designed with family life in mind, these contemporary residences offer generous living and dining rooms and spacious kitchens intended for the active cook. Each features three bedrooms, including a serene master suite that occupies an entire level, a flexible loft space perfect for family gatherings as well as 4 large completely private terraces each totalling 500?600 sf per unit.
The windows on the front street facing facades reference an inverted model of the traditional bay window, found on much of the city’s Victorian housing stock. The perceived carving of the windows further emphasize the monolithic nature of the masonry volume. While the perspectivally oriented windows animate the facade and work to maximize natural light and ventilation throughout each floor, while extending visual limits of the house to embrace the primary view corridors of the site. Each residence establishes a continually unfolding relationship between its interior, exterior private garden spaces and the sky beyond.
